Evenin all, I fitted an Android stereo. It's in & working, just not yet finished, but I have a question.

I have discovered some wires that don't seem to fit anywhere.

One pair, yellow & purple with a yellow plug which is mixed in with the (previously cut & soldered) radio harness (it was obviously upgraded to standard ISO radio harness).

Then this black plug with green/grey and black wire which was behind the dash bezel.

I'm planning a new (refurbished) steering wheel in beige leather & wood with remote buttons for the radio.

However, all is lost without finding the appropriate wires....

So, should I order the wheel with or without said buttons?

Either way, I will have the cruise control buttons so not all bad...

Thanks all ;)

It looks ok so far....

All I need to do is replace the switch panel, screw the HEVAC back on, install the reverse camera, glue down the GPS antennae, replace the centre console bits & bobs

Still, I'm happy so far :)

I see a book on the Hevac. :D:D

There's "Aways" a book on the HEVAC. It was put there by LR to remind owners to read the "blend-flap repair instructions and "weep" (Just like some LR "O"-Rings).

Blend flaps rarely fail other than servos a bit dicky for one reason or another. Cleaning the carbon dust out of the motor mostly sorts those. Now distribution flaps are another kettle of fish entirely. :D

Thanks all for the input

Here is the "I am a dick!" admission.... That plug is actually the fuel flap release :rolleyes:o_O:D

Gstuart, the problem I have is, in the distant past someone installed standard ISO harness and cut off the stereo plugs so while I have some wire colours to go by, I have no "plug" colours to go by.... I still hope to find the steering wheel wires to use. If not, not a big deal, just a smidge irritating. It appears to be made by Vicmax (10.1"Android7.1 Single DIN Car Stereo Dash Radio Car GPS SAT NAV DAB+OBD2 Camera)

Wammers, I have been plugging & unplugging the HEVAC controller so I assume the resistance has changed when I was driving the car without the HEVAC connected. Same when I went to SubWay today with the switch panel disconnected. I couldn't lower the suspension that I had set to full height overnight! Funny though, no warnings on the dash and no cruise control o_O

I've managed to install the reverse camera and it works beautifully. Next is to get the headrest TV's working... It's non stop and it's killing me  It's hard work both mentally and physically

Still, gives me something to do even if I crawl in after a few hours and nod off. It'll make it a good place to sit. I've also moved the in car telephone placing and whatnot....It's all good :)

Anyhoo, here is the reverse camera image.

The phone has been moved (although this isn't set in stone) to a better out of the way place.

And finally I am wondering whether to cut into the dash to install the clock between the dash vents and the binacle or just leave it out of the game. I already made wires to allow it to move further afield. I welcome your thoughts of whether to cut the dash or not (although I have a friend who is an epic carpenter who has been warned he needs to make a walnut surround to hide any mess left by cutting the hole)

I rather think it may look quite well placed if I go ahead, but I don't want to chop the dash if I don't have to. Aforementioned mate has been commissioned to make a cover to place behind the stereo screen to cover up the unsightly holes left behind.

My other quandry is where to place the sensor & motor from below the clock.....o_O

Evenin all. Steering wheel ordered, comes with buttons for the radio.... So, if there are no wires already in place, what's involved in adding them?

I would assume swapping the clock spring and taking the wiring from there. But, is there anything else involved or do I just attach to the wires at the back of the radio, go into the steering wheel app and programme the radio for it's external buttons? Never had to mess with steering controls except on one of my cars where all I did was add a little box to convert analogue to digital. But I suspect the Andooroid system has that built in...

Any advice gladly received. :)
