Does anyone know if the stereo controls on the steering wheel are analogue or digital?

Also,
where are the wires behind the head unit?
are they part of the big connector with all the wires in or are they separate?

Thanks

Don't know whether they're analogue or digital, could even be their own protocols, but the plug layouts for the R990 head unit can be found on my own website:

Thanks for that, so in theory, if I get a multimeter and plug it onto pins 2 and 3, when i press 1 of the steering wheel buttons I should get a voltage?

ie would the input and outpin pin be the same as a positive and negative pin?

As I said, I don't know whether they're analogue, digital or their own protocols, but there are five switches on the steering wheel controls; volume up and down, mode and channel up and down so there's more going on than just dc voltages I would think.

As for what or how, I've no idea and until I have to dive into that area I will probably remain blissfully ignorant.

OK, I've been checking on RAVE for the wiring details for the remote switches for the radio.

It looks like it is analogue, resistance based. As each switch is pressed a different value of resistance is presented across the two wires.
