Steering Wheel Boss Catching on Column!

Hoping for some advice here... I've bought a Springalex Boss & Aftermarket wheel for my '97 300Tdi... al looked good, boss slid on nicely until...

Turning out of the drive and found the boss catching on the column cowl ripping it apart...

Checked again & I have the correct Boss... will I need to trim the column plastic?

i had the same problem, i had to trim the coller off the back of the boss so it didnt hit the plastic cover
