Steering problem, lots of play...

Hi.

Over the last 1000 miles, the steering on my 300tdi 110 has got quite 'vague'.

There's a few inches travel each way on the steering wheel, that doesn't sound too alarming but it feels alarming when the steering randomly changes direction !

I was wondering if I could ask for some fault-finding help... for n00bs.

tighten the steering box up. (Plenty of threads cover that topic) Also check for play in wheel bearings and steering components.

As above , get under the front and get someone to shake the steering , check ALL the balljoints + check your UJs from your steering shaft to steering box , my guess is there shot .
