I am looking to replace the steering drop arm on my 1997 110 csw defender and have been looking on paddocks for the part. They are described as PAS drop arm, with the choice of 3,4 or 6 bolt  where do i look on my truck to decide which one i need:confused:

Look on top of the power steering box and count the bolts ye see around the top.
This is what a 6 bolt one looks like...

Thanks very much. I think i am going to replace the whole arm as it will be the second time i have replaced just the ball joint!

Thats why i was thinking i might just cut it and split it and put a new arm on if the arm puts up too much resistance to removal!

My new drop arm arrived from paddocks today! i was not looking forward to removing the old one. There appeared a small amount of vertical play in the drop arm:eek: Imagine my suprise when it fell off! the nut was not very tight at all:eek: the lock washer appeared to be only bent on one side to the front of nut and not bent up the back of the arm aswell:eek:
