Series 2 Steering box removal

Any advice on getting this sponging thing out so I can send the chassis off for blasting

Seems in there pretty tight unless I'm missing something.

a jack and a large hammer to wack a pad of wood sat on the top of the chassis next to the relay

Does it push up from the bottom?

yes place jack under the bottom of relay

Unfortunately I've stripped it down to the bare chassis so there's no weight for me to jack against

Try applying plenty of heat around the area of the relay with a blow torch, then with a solid lump of wood placed on the pained shaft to protect it give the wood a good wallop.

Pained shaft should have said splined shaft. Bloody auto correct.
