Range Rover Vogue 4.4 petrol 2004 129000 miles.
Having being stored for the last two years, with a dead battery, a new battery has been fitted, and now the usual air suspension inactive, abs, traction control lights etc on.
I have done the turning from lock to lock, in order to reset the sas, however, this does not clear the problems.
I presume that the SAS will need calibrating first. Can this be done with a snap on scanner, or will i need to take it to a Land Rover dealer/ independant for diagnostics? I am in Dorset UK if anyone can recommend someone local with the necessary dianostic tools.
Thanks in advance for any replies

Can I just ask. was it stored outside?

If so you may have a load of dampness inside, which plays havoc with the electrickery stuff.

The only thing I know about the snapon is that it can calibrate the air suspension although some have had issues.
I've only had to do the lock to lock for the SAS, there is a calibration option on my Foxwell which I have only used on a D3.
Sorry I can't be more help but there was a thread recently where someone has changed the SAS and is strugling. From what was said diags may only be needed if new ECU is fitted otherwise it's just lock to lock.
Do you have an LR specific (you mentioned snapon) diags to read the codes?

No, i don't have a LR specific diags

Ah ok. Have you asked him if it can do it?
Hi, i have just returned from the garage. Snap on scanner cannot calibrate the SAS, it says that the wrong SAS has been fitted. Also a fault coming up,saying battery voltage too high. On the way back, the indicators stopped flashing, lights flicker, rear lights staying on after taking the ignition key out, even though the lights are turned off, battery light illuminates whilst driving. Got home, opened the bonnet, and the battery was extremely hot !! as in it has been overcharged by the alternator. Gearbox also going into failsafe.

looks like the sensor at bottom of steering coloum has been changed, system has to be told its changed, with an autel its a heading in the abs section, once it knows it has a new one then the lock to lock will clear the faults but id get the over charging sorted first before it fry s everything

I have ordered a new alternator, it should be here on Monday, the one on the car is putting out 14.6 volts at idle, and 17 volts at 3000 rpm. Regulator not doing its job. only an hour or so job to change the alternator, (water cooled type)

Some modern alternators do go to what seems to be a high voltage but it should only be for a short period after starting, 14.6 is OK.
