Station Wagon?

imho having a soft top shouldn't stop it being a station wagon, as long as the number of seats, colour chassis no etc are right i would leave it as it is.

Mines a swb 88 and it says 'estate' on the log book. It doesnt say how many seats its got either.
I wouldnt worry-could contact the Heritage centre if you want original build spec

Mine is a series 3 utility masquerading as a station wagon with proper side windows etc. Biggest problem is insurance companies still quote it as a commercial when reg number is given.

it's that time again for me too, and swinton specialist insurance have just upped the quote by about £50 for this year :( I got stung for my 'custom' side windows and rear fold down seats last year cos I can't prove they are original - or even genuine LR  )

who's doing the best deals about now for classic policies?

i would phone them up and say you have a quote for £60 less than they have quoted, every time i have tried that one my current insurer beats the fictitious quote.

a lot of them have substantial leeway in the amount of discount they can offer.

This year flux gave me my renewal figure, i knocked some off and phoned a rival who gave me a better quote, told flux i was not going to renew and they undercut the rivals quote.

Mmm...I usually just ask if that is the best quote they can give...if they say no and they're lying then you might argue obtaining money by deception.

By fibbing about another company's quote, that is what you're doing, you need to watch yourself as many brokers are linked together to see what they quote...which all sounds like "cartel" to me which is also illegal...bastards!

Not got round to it yet but thinking of taking my s3 off classic and putting it on as business I only do a few thousand miles a year business and a fair number social/domestic/pleasure my other car is currently dead and not sure I can be arsed fixing it! No idea how much that will push price up?!? T'other car is about £800 as its modified....

I got a letter from my insurer (norton insurance) to say they can't offer me a renewal as their underwriter has changed their policy and I'm now too young (I'm 24) to be insured by them. Which is nice..

I didnt really want to have to faff around finding new quotes.. D:

If I remember rightly I was being quoted around £400 last year for a non classic policy with business mileage - confused will give you the answers to that one tho!

Nah, it's my daily runaround...the one from Matcal is still in an undecided quantum state between a truck cab and a station wagon...i.e. all the bits are on the garage floor for either...not had a chance to do much work on it yet....

Lancaster (after 25 minutes on the phone) - sorry sir we can't offer you insurance as your vehicle is modified.....

it's a bloody van, with LR sideways facing rear seats and side windows, had this fun last year too! I think I'm going to take the back seats out, they're a waste of space anyway....

problem seems to be they can't match it to a particular model - vans can't have rear seats according to the list.... :wtf:
