Hi,
I have decided to buy a rather tatty 110 station wagon . Rot free, low miles, but..
The seats in it are pretty grim- has anyone tried fitting seats from , say, a Volvo or similar?

Ideally I want three high backs across the second row, with proper inertia belts (like on a Disco2).
The side facing benches I'm not worried about.

Any advice/ideas please?
Cheers,
Jim.

Not sure about the second row (I have a 90) but I found the front seats of mine were greatly improved after retrimming the originals- over time the foam breaks up and makes it hard and lumpy. New base foams made a real difference, and certainly easier than trying to make seats from something else fit.

The second row of your 110 should already have 3-point inertia reel belts for the left and right passengers, plus a static lap belt for the middle. The trouble with upgrading the middle to a 3-point belt is finding an anchor point for the shoulder strap. This needs to be very solidly mounted above shoulder level- in a crash you don't want it to pull through the bodywork for example. Personally, I'd probably leave it as is, particularly if I only had four passengers infrequently.

The side-facing seats in the load area are ok for use by adults, but kids are a bit of a grey area. If you find you don't use them it might be worth removing them entirely- you'll have more luggage space that way and it may reduce your insurance (due to going from 9 seats to 5.) I kept them in my 90 as without it would be a 2-seater, but with a 110 it's a bit different.

Thanks.
Didn't think about the insurance angle- I'm removing the side facers anyway.
I fitted Volvo 240 front seats to a Disco years ago- with covers on they looked factory and were a zillion times more comfortable than the originals.
It is the second row that is causing headscratching for now. Centre lap belts are a bit ancient..
