when it try and start my 200tdi defender 90 all i get is the brakewarning light on and a lights with a cog with like a thermometer kinda thing does any help would be apreciated thnx

looks like you've got a poor earth somewhere in the dash.
The cog warning light suggests that a light bulb has fallen out the back an is lighting up the wrong hole
Lift out the console, check all the wires.
