hi. i have a range rover p38 dse with a few problems which i cant get me head round. i am having trouble starting the motor in the morning, keeps turning over, then will start up after 4 attempts of the key. when warm will start fine. have done the mod on heater plugs with relay an bits.if any one can help or give some advice that would be great.:)

i had a problem with starting, turn key and got nothing, but after 5-6 atempts it would start like normal.
turned out to be starter motor, but yours sounds different from mine

I don't know much about diesel landrovers, but it sounds like a glow plug problem. Temp is not getting hot enough for combustion, does it have a fuel pre-heater? Only other thing I can think of is that you have a lift pump issue where the system is draining down over night and taking awile for the pump to repressurize. Has the fuel filter been changed lately?

if it starts fine when warm and not now in the colder temps its a preheating problem...

...check the connections to the plugs, check the plugs (replacing them is cheap) then check the continuity of your engine electrical system. also check your engine earth... that can throw up a **** load of problems.
