hi guys and gals, I've suddenly started getting a starting problem, turn the key and it's like the battery is flat but it isn't, try it a couple of times and it then fires up no problem, it's a p38 4.6 v8, any clues
Cheers
Steve

Is it any better with jump leads?
Could be starter motor dying
Mine sounded as if battery was dead and I replaced battery but soon problem was back until starter motor died suddenly
Try connecting battery direct to starter and see if any difference

Similar fault with the Clio, sat for a year and although it started first turn of the key, when I got to the MoT testing station all I got for my key turning efforts was a flat................... That's right, no sound!

I remembered the white wire to the solenoid, wiggled it and away she went.

Damp conditions made a high resistance connection.

The advice above is spot on, but always start with the easy stuff first, Battery lead connections, starter wire connections, earth connections, then battery output & alternator output and if all else checks out, starter itself and ignition switch.
