Morning all, the time has come to replace the carbon brushes on my series 3 petrol starter, I have looked online and there are a few different suppliers, I've read few posts on here and Britpart seem to be the ones to avoid (I see a lot of that on here), does anyone recommend a make or manufacturer, this isnt a job I want to be doing again and again.

I was thinking the same, just so many people slating Britpart, I replace bigger versions on my generators on ships all the time. Perhaps people have managed to fit them incorrectly somehow.

Hats off to you for being willing to strip and replace the brushes. I found it to be a faff so I just replaced the complete starter motor. They're not that expensive for a series.

it's not that bad a job really, i replace them all the time on generators on the ships i work on, a set of brushes is no more than 10 quid, a new starter is over a hundred, any money i save is a bonus that i can put towards the welding side of things as i am absolutely rubbish at that lol

I destroyed the screw heads trying to get at the brushes, they were seized solid. I think I paid £85 for the replacement starter, although, that was a while ago.
