started the swap from td to tdi on the 110 this afternoon and so far alls well, stripped out the engine bay, bonnet off, rad out, engine out, etc. forgot how heavy the old td lump is as she looks like iv put a lift kit in her with it out :)
any way tommorow i intend to do a full day and get the engine out the disco and do all the bits to it plus get the lump in to the patient.

has anyone used the outlet from the turbo on the td to replace the disco version?? just thinking it may fit and give a better angle on the down pipe?
would like to get a more straight down angle rather than the s bend on conversion pipes, and should be more straight forward to shorten the existing down pipe than weld up some frankenstien monster to fit the disco unit.

will update tommorow on progress and stick some piccies up.

cheers.j

taken a perfectly good disco apart today :) engine is on the deck and ready to have the mounts etc swapped over and new clutch fitted etc etc.
not done as much as i would have liked but didnt get to start till 2ish and heat today has been a killer!
tommorow i should get to start earlier and am looking to have the tdi fitted and running by end of day.
heat has killed my phone so il have to try and upload pics later after its charged up.
any one after a good 3door disco rolling shell? got new boot floor and rear cross member, seems a shame to wiegh it in as would be a nice shell for someones beloved rotter :)
hopefully be a bit cooler tommorow.

had to work so nothing done on the landy today :( just 2 landys with empty engine bays standing forlornly in the drive.
so all going well tommorow il get to do some more to it :) need her back on road by monday!

actually got a chance to do some work on the conversion today :) went pretty well, got the tdi in to the 110, after putting a new clutch and heavy duty clutch fork in. new lift pump , rocker cover gasket, auxillary belts, heater plugs on engine.
that was this morning after dropping little un off at school, this afternoon spent most of my time making up extended pipe work to fill all the gaps up. so far iv done the oil cooler pipes, all fuel pipes, power steering pipes, top and bottom hoses for rad, top hose for inter cooler, turbo inlet and filter housing, heater pipes, and attached wiring harness, cut down and rewelded rad mounts, fitted rad, slam panel and front panel.
tested the engine wiring was all working and fired her up :) pretty loud as no down pipe yet.
so still to do hopefully tommorow. bottom intercooler hoses. fabricate new down pipe for exhaust, refit front bumper, grill , bonnet, transmision tunnel and front floor panels.
long day today but got a lot done and should be done tommorow :)

to true fella :) ment to do it as soon as i bought the 110, but soldiered on with the td till the turbo blew.
pleasantly suprised how straight forward its been to do! the heat earlier in the week slowed me down quite a bit but its been fairly quick job.
cheers :) iv had to do some fabrication work as i didnt buy any of the off the shelf conversion bits. just redone the intercooler bottom hose as wasnt happy with the angle on the elbow at turbo end. just started doing the down pipe now got first bits tacked up and positioned, otherwise save fluids and priming fuel system its all done.
cant wait to fire her up :)

all done :) took her for a spin today and went very well, but i knew it was a good engine as iv driven the doner for a while.
couple of slight tweeks, had a small leak from one of the oil cooler unions but just needed tightning. likewise rear of the two heater pipes was leeking but turned out id forgotten to tighten the jubilee clip.
might have to adjust the down pipe iv just made as its sitting a little to close to the chassis rail and rattles when it idles, easy enough just couldnt be arsed to do anymore today.
also noticed when i was under her making the down pipe that the front prop uj is fecked so will have to swap out the prop tommorow at some point.
all in all not to bad a job to do took 3 and half days of work on my tod to do the conversion, didnt rush first 2 days as it was to bloody hot to do much, so if your thinking about it just do it!

yeah am a bit :)

best bit was taking my lad to school and comparing the difference it went up the hills, places i would change down to second with the td , i found i was doing in an easy fourth with tdi.
it realy has made her a different beast, well chuffed.

cheers.j

I ava disco 200tdi with disco box an it got to go forward cos of the box, so i will av to weld new brackets on. The engines still got the disco mounts on it, an u needthe disco brackets to match it up.

Unfortunately i got a transit engine in there right now so cant use any of the old stuff.
