It rings a bell, mine will almost stall but only when it literally has just been started. If you stab at the throttle it'll nearly stall but after a minute it's fine.
At 217.000mls it's a little worn;)

Use to be only hot but u could drive half mile up the road from cold come to junction then just quit as soon as clutch in stalls nearly swear was air getting in thanks

Quantity control servo pot losing contact with track. Reconditioned injection pump i am afraid. You can put it off for a while if you have Nanocom by slightly increasing idle speed.

Worn crankshaft thrust bearings might cause the issue with a high milage engine. Each time you put your foot on the clutch it will push the crankshaft forwards, possibly effecting the CPS/reluctor clearance.

Something that came up a long time ago was that a worn quantity servo end stop would cause the problem, the OP managed to turn the end stop to an unworn part.
Check the modulation, at that mileage it could be way off. My project car has a similar mileage, it would stall occasionally on lifting off the throttle and the MIL light would flash, once hot though it was fine, the previous owner had had the idle speed raised to help. The modulation was at 78%, I have retimed it and it no longer tries to stall and so far I have not seen the MIL light again. Time will tell. I think it needs new chains.

The only time the quantity servo goes near the stop is when the engine is switched off. It never does when the engine is running.
