Stainless steel bolts for LR ?

In the past I have seen the use of stainless steel bolts to replace door
bolts etc. anybody experienced them ( Electrolytic corrossion ???? ).
Anybody know where to obtain them ???

SS bolts are okay anywhere they don't touch aluminium - otherwsie it's
instant electrolysis and disappearing metal. They are fine as hinge
bolts into the pillars; I've used csk headed capscrews on my vehicle and
they have done the job well.

They are OK except where they are in contact with aluminium (insulate with
nylon washers) or where high tensile bolts are called for. Obtainable from
either a specialist bolt & nut supplier or any marine chandler. Many
hardware shops have a limited range, but note that the UNF threads favoured
by Series Landrovers are obsolete and will be a bit more difficult to find,
so you may have to go metric where this is feasible.

bit like steel ones then...

company called steves stainless do every kind imagineable. I never had
trouble with botling a bellhousing to a V8 with stainless ones.

the aformenetioned steves stainless does all the UNF and UNC. limited range
from screwfix.

BTW, I looked into this HT thing, and the A2-70 spec is not quite as good as
8.8, but the A2-80 spec (if available) is damned close. A2-70 would work
for many applications where 8.8 are fitted, though. It's very seldom that
bolt-strength is really critical.
