My 110 original 200Tdi will be needing a complete exhaust system soon, was thinking of going stainless as it's hopefully 'fit and forget'. I'm hanging on to her for the foreseeable future, so am prepared to pay that bit extra for quality. She is used for camping/expeditions and my daily driver, was interested to know your recommendations? Also does doing away with the middle box make much more noise, as it's nice and quiet (for a Fender:D) with all the soundproofing I've done

Fitted a straight through to my 90 200tdi in 65mm stainless. Feels much more responsive. Sounds a little deeper but not noisy. Cost £300 fitted in Dudley

thanks, was reading other posts, it seems straight through is done a lot, I've got the allisport intercooler upgrade and tuned boost and fuel, it goes well for weighing 2.5ton! Just concerned me that on long journeys I would get annoyed with the sound!

fitted a middle silencer box replacement pipe to my 110 crewcab few months back and was amazed tbh it is slightly more noisy and mostly you will notice it above 65mph , but have notice i'm get between 20 and 40 miles per tank full (depending on how its driven and if towing trailers etc) ;)

Hard to tell my exact mpg change as I fitted the roofrack, rocksliders, ARB bullbar and more bolt-ons at the same time, hence the weight, however,I don't think the tuning (at a guess) has changed mpg that drastically. I would definitely recommend the intercooler and tuning, as the acceleration is improved quite a bit. I've a Disco transfer box in her, raising the gearing for motorway use as well.

i will be doing the disco box soon too.. hmmmm, might give it a whirl, my mate has a couple of big front mount intercoolers lying around..

I bought some stainless steel 2.5" pipe and made my own side exit for my TD5 110.

A few hours access at my mate's garage through his downtime at Christmas. A hydraulic pipe bender, and my own Supermig. Cost me about £30 in materials!

That's a straight through with no silencers in the system atall, and it sounds gorgeous, but is very loud and does drone alot. This doesn't phase me as it's a weekend toy, but it would if I drove it all the time.

Centre silencer removal pipe I had on before that was a nice middle ground.

The Allisport intercooler comes with long pipes attached, so you can use your existing pipework, It sits in front of your rad and fills the whole space, you have to do away with the 2 slam panel supports, I fitted military bonnet catches and did away with the crap bonnet cable pull catch.
Mate does s/s fabricating but its hard to get him focused to do the job, thought buying one was easier, think I will now do away with middle box, but definitely keep the back box, side exit looks cool but not really practical for me.

Other way round. Keep the middle box and junk the rest.

My 90 has a stainless system, was already on there when i bought the car and looks like its been on there for a few years.
Havent a clue whos make it is, its a like for like copy of the original system with 3 silencers etc
I removed the middle silencer to fit a pto and cant say i noticed much if any increase in cabin noise.

surely the main restriction is the middle box, that's why there are upgrade straight pipe replacements? If I leave the small back box on it wouldn't be loud then? Checked with Rimmer Bros and my model is no longer available, but by heck they are expensive for the other models in stock:eek:
