The gearbox seems ok. No obvious whines or howls. However, 1st gear has just decided to quit staying selected. If at a junction you select 1st and don't load it on the clutch, it will just flop back to N. I'm hoping there is something external on the gearbox that could cause it?

Cheers

Na mate. At a guess its some sort of retention issue. There is no positive action into gear. The gear itself works fine if you hold it in.

I was guessing at detent myself. Is it internal on these boxes? Simple fix? (Only familiar with a barrel sequential shift)

it's a fiddle but it's external - PM me your email addy if you want a copy of the relivent manual

depender WSM section 3 around page 30 something there's a nice piccy to illustrate what your looking for

Think I got it mate. From what I can figure I have to remove a plate on the top and **** about with a magnet. Think I'll keep driving it 'till it ****s itself.

Thanks for the offer tho.

Lol thats what 2nd gear is for. Besides the V8 is my slag. Engine will probably grenade first. I just use it to get into the forest to go mountain biking. Oh and for the occasional bit of bush bashing.
