stage 1 seat bar

I have a stage 1 and am looking to fit new seats range rover ones if I
can get them , just wanted to know if its ok to remove the bar that
stretches between the door post behind the seats or will it all cave
in ???

The bar is mostly there to support the seat backs. I might supply
some rigidity as a by-product.........
