i just been out in my 90 went about a mile and everyso often there is a squeel coming from the front passanger side... it also pulls to the passanger side then it stops.. i have just replaces the power steering pump and im wondering if its something to do with that... my other thaught is that it could be a wheel bearing..
the joys of buying a landy that has not been looked after.. im working on it all the time at the moment.... any help would be apreciated cheers jake

Might be the belt on the PAS pump - there is some load being put on it which is why you get pulled to the left and that load increases the resistance on the pulley, which makes the belt squeal. Get it checked pretty quick else you could find the pull to the left unstoppable and either total a pedestrian or end up off a cliff - don't take it on the La Paz road for a while :D:D:D

If the slf-center in teh box is instructing it slightly off center (or is defective) it will try and center to the left, which will make it strain when you try and drive straight on! Not sure why it might be intermittent though, maybe there's some gunk in the PAS fluid? (or maybe the PAS fluid is low and the pump is pumping air bubbles round?)

tighten yer bearings up with the first nut and a box spanner, then let it off quarter of a turn, then tap over the locking tabs and then the second nut, check for movement , it should have a small end float , but not much, if in doubt check then after the first 100 mile, somewhere thers a torque figure for the initial set up ,

i was wondering if it could be an air lock, i doubt its gunk as i put all fresh fluid into it and the old fluid wasent too bad bit thin but not too dirty, and its up to the correct level...

Does the squeel happen under any conditions? eg turning, braking and acceleration?
Does the pulling happen under any conditons?

Just wondering if its a gubbed CV joint. No one else has mentioned it yet.

Maybe bearing....

Sounds like when my bearing went. Although the pulling was that great and wasn't to one ... although it was my rear bearing.

The bearing was seizing against the outer race and the squealing was the race rotating inside the hub.

right i just got home from work and felt the hub and its hot... the other side is cold as it should be do you think the housing has run dry of oil/grease,
if so i dont have any gear oil, engine oil is the thickest that i have or i have normal grease, would this do till i can pick up some proper stuff? cheers
