Getting a little random squeak now and then while driving. Sounds similar to a squeeking door, not been able to pinpoint it really, maybe from the middle or back of the car. Pulled at the prop shafts and they feel solid. Dunno if its those or maybe the gearbox? Shifting like it normally does. Maybe just the prop shafts need oiling a little? Is that common practice?

Could be a brake pad sticking - mines doing it at the moment (amongst a whole load of other bangs and rattles!!) I'm compelled to give it lots of attention though!

Try getting it up to speed then when the squeak starts feather the brake or try getting up to speed and knocking it into neutral, if the squeak remains in neutral but goes when you touch your brake you have your answer.

Failing that a gearbox will make a high pitched 'whine' when there's no oil in it.

I'm sure there are other potential causes that someone I'll highlight.

Happy investigating Sherlock I feel your pain!!!

Hmm, I think it maybe coming from the front right wheel, the thing has had a very slightly leaking axle seal for a while, it's not been too bad other than ####ing up the brake pad though. Maybe time to replace that and the brake pads

Have a really piercing 'chirping' squeak every so often that took me years to locate - seems all over the place, and guess what, the f-ing bonnet hinges. Do try a few drops of 3in1 just in case its that simple......... (I guess others were better than me at figuring it out...) A

Haha, yeah I will put a bit of 3in1 over everything and give it another drive. Just put it on the prop shafts but they don't seem to problem, definitely think the last squeal came from the drivers side front wheel so guessing it maybe the bearing on its way out. Would be good for it to not be anything other than needing some 3in1 however, need to use it to go away in a couple of weeks, don't wanna risk ####ing owt up before then!

I had the phantom squeak as well and it was my bonnet hinges also... sounded like it was coming from the right front, somewhere in the cab though. I drive a hard top/utility and the bolts securing the top were loose as well, that caused some noise and squeaks. And my spare was sitting in the middle of the brownchurch rack and bouncing the center of the rack up and down, causing another squeak/rattle. So after fixing all of those, I bought a new radio b/c I didn't have anything to listen to.
