Hi all. First off I'm not exactly mechanically minded and was hoping for some advice please. My TD5 squeals on start up which I presume is something to do with the alternator as it sounds like the aux belt slipping.
The odd thing is it's ok in warm weather and stops after 10/15 min or if you rev it hard. I changed the battery in the spring and have had no problems with loss of power or battery drain. Someone mentioned the bearings in the alt? Given this fact any ideas please or is it a new alternator?
By the way I work shifts and sometimes have to leave at 4.30am so don't want to upset the neighbours too much, it's a noisy bugger as it is! Would really appreciate your advice please
