Now the 110 was legal it was time to get rid of the Disco.
I'd salvaged some stuff off of it, so all that was left was what I couldn't be arsed to remove.

I thought about sticking it on eBay, but was offered 200 quid collected from the scrappy.

The day she left :(

Anyway. With that all done, it was time to make the 110 fit for my purposes.

First up was a canopy. I wanted an Ifor Williams one, as I think they look better than the fibreglass jobbies.
It took a couple of weeks but I found one in the deepest, darkest depths of Devon. So a road trip happened, and I had my canopy.

Next up was modifying the tailgate.
Landys have this thing where the gap between the tailgate and the floor of the load area is about 2 inches.
A friend of mine's dog actually broke it's leg in this gap, and I didn't want it to happen to my dogs.
So I got some off cuts of wood and fashioned a hinged flap that covers the gap when the tailgate is down, but will fold as the tailgate goes up.
Like so.

So, you'll remember I mentioned that the breather had been disconnected from the air filter?
Well I was round Phil's having a cup of tea and a chat, and I mentioned I was going to make a catch tank out of a coke bottle.
"Don't be daft" he said "I've got one in the garage"
So, a bit of fiddling around later, and I had a billet Ali catch tank.
Oooh, shiney!

A quick word about Phil, well, he's nuts!
What he doesn't know about cars isn't worth knowing. And he's always willing to help, if he can.
He owns a lovely restored series 2a, a Disco 3, 2 Subaru impreza's and 3 hillman imps (all race spec, one with a impreza turbo engine in it!)

looking good, do something to protect the chassis from all the mud and crap though.

the doors didn't look that bad. clean it back, weld some new metal on and paint it up. do the doors soon as i found they can rot pretty quickly.

Aye keep an eye on it, when I bought mine ma filter had oil in (but no as bad as yours). I replaced my turbo weeks later as the bearings where on the way out and was chucking oil up into the filter.

Didna fancy a run away engine!

Nice beast yu,ve got there by the way!:D
