Morning all, I'm in need of new springs on a series 3 88" 2 1/4 petrol, I want to do a bit of green laning this year and was wondering if it was worth upgrading or just replacing.

Not an easy decision. It’s been done to death on ere. Some parabolics are junk, some seem good. Some people swear by well maintained originals and some hate them.
Personal preference seems to be the thing.
If mine had the originals when I picked it up I would have probably stayed with them but it had parabolics so will replace with the same if required.
Spoze it depends how much your willing to throw at it.

For what it's worth my favored set up on a series 2a/3 was standard front springs with 109 dampers, Rear springs military lightweight with extra length dampers [ mine were Transit ones back in the day] but a lot more choice now available. This for an every day work truck and RTV trials.

I'm another advocate for standard springs, most of people's complaints about them come from where they have rusted together and are no longer moving and they flex and it is very difficult to compare like for like as you would need two new sets, not an old worn out set replaced for new. Replacing the old standard springs one mine with new standard spring made a huge difference to the ride quality.
However I would echo @Bobsticle it is very much a person preference thing. But which ever you get you need to make sure they are good quality as both cheap paras and cheap standard will sag and fail in short order.

British springs get good reviews as do Jones springs.
Personally have parabolics on been on 10 years now rolls on corners but you get used to that.
Son following me down the road in the car reckons I was tacking like a yacht going round corners. I would not go back to standard springs.

It need not cost a lot refurbing yourself, a vice and or G clamps is required, then just clean, paint and i used some graphite dry grease, rides well, part of the reason for keeping the springs i didnt want to risk buying a cheap duff set or spend lots when not reqd.
