spring over axle

hi folks as any one done spring over axle conversion, wondered if was safe or not. seen it on my brothers lj 80 suzuki off roader. or is it a waste of time. regards Brian

ive seen it done with a military 109 by a fella near where i live he says its a bugger of a job to do and said it really wasnt too much worth the effort for a couple of inches ground clearance said he should have just got extended lift shackles instead but thats just his way of thinking

Doesn't help your floor to diff clearance. Put bigger tyres and some extended shackles if you must - at least that's a Land Rover solution. Can't say the spring over axle idea appeals - it would need modification to the axles to stop them spinning and put the propshafts under a lot of strain.
