Well on my way home on the motorway i randomly got the bong "break fluid low" strange I thought cos I only checked the level about 2 weeks ago! I'll top it up when I get home
about 2 miles ferther down the road traffic was slowing I breaked and F#@K NO BREAKS!!!!!! :crazy_driver::crazy_driver::crazy_driver: (or at least very little)
Had to bail onto the hard shoulder! if id been in the righthand lane id been screwed
came to a stand still jumped out to see a river of fluid running from the back right corner
its not the wheel its higher up near the back of the fuel cap possably above the tank?
Is there anything up there other than pipes? Cos most of my pipes are farly new!
I managed to get home useing the gears and handbreak to stop but doing that I think ive fu@ked the handbreak too takes about 7-8clicks to hold

Burst brake line, is there one going over the tank?, usually is on most cars, and mot testers cant check properly.
Probably rusted thruogh at a retaining clip.

Thought they were on diagonal circuits as a backup? But this is complete failure!
That i don't know, but its obviously a burst pipe and if its high up then its unlikely to be flexi as im sure you checked that? I dont know P38, buy im sure i read on a post about in-tank pump removal in which was suggested to check the pipe over the tank as its difficult to check.

yea its high up probably is the one that goes over the tank
havent looked properly yet cos ive took it to my mates round corner cos im working tomoz and hes not so hes gona do it
plus hes got all the gear to make pipes

Horrible experience eh.... i had my car MOT'd not too long ago, i know garage well and basically shadow them and help with brake test etc with any car i mot, anyway, tester and myself were checking pipes and all looked reasonable and he slapped some grease on rough bits,,lol..

One burst on rolling road, and it was actually not above tank, but rear suspension subframe, it burs at clip.:(

He looked a tad sheepish:D

I had the same happen to mine 1995 4.6hse, On occasion i had had a soft pedal prior to the pipe corroding thro, the twin rear brake pipes sit between the chassis and the body , I believe they are fitted to the body before it was dropped on to the chassis, I in fact dropped out the rear axle (makes access a whole lot better in my opinion, and renewed both pipes from front to rear and the flexibles, there are 2 connectors on the bulkhead, so no need to pipe all the way to the brake modulator good luck and take a lot of care when bleeding the brakes afterwards

Someone i know who is related to me, not by blood thankfully asked me to check his rear brakes on his Renault megane, one side had no pads in it, thats how long he put up with the grinding, total ####ing spaka. The caliper piston was also right out leaking fluid.

What ****ed me off was
1. im not unapproachable, and im often free.
2. My nephew rides in that car!!!

I had words...

common for brake & fuel pipes to rot above tank tbh is a fairly easy job not as nasty as most make out & easy peasy if someones previously cut the floor to change fuel pump

Lol I did that about 2 months ago
im not gona be doing the job so is it worth mentioning the hole to the guy that is?
how dose it make it easyer?

Just had a chat with my mecanic mate and its not good news.
turns out most of the pipes including the fuel lines have had it
hes said the body needs lifting to do it right cos the pipes are between the body and chassis and as such he thinks hes gona have to lift the body an inch or so? Does this sound right? Hes quoted me mates rate and a favour at £400 3 days labour but hes having to cancel jobs and rent a lift to do it so cant do it any cheeper
ive asked him about running them in a easyer route and basicly he wont ! Says its not worth his reputation

When I replaced my brake pipes it was pretty simple just route the pipe the same as the old one starting from the back, no need to drop the tank, no need to lift the body (other than to extended in EAS to make it easier to get under).
