Dear All,

My '89 classic (electronic speedometer) has developed a most annoying fault; the needle will fall to zero and the odometer and trip meter will both stop clocking on after a short while of cruising at the same speed - however if I am driving along country roads, regularly accelerating and declerating, then everything will continue working as usual.

Not long after purchasing it I replaced the instrument pod - however when IT stopped working it was just the speedo that stopeed working, the odometer and trip meter continued clocking on the mileage.

I have cleaned out the electric connector to the transducer but all to no avail.

Does anyone have any bright ideas? The difficulty with it is that as it is an intermittent problem, testing with a voltage tester won't show up any faults! I was wondering if it was indicative of the transducer coming to the end of its useful life - perhaps the electronic signal it relays is getting weaker and whilst the speedo can pick this up when it is continally changing speed it isn't a problem but when cruising it is?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Marcus D. MacIver
