Guys

My Defender just hit the 200,000 miles stone and the speedo has suddenly stopped.

Odometer doesn't move and the needles fluctuates about +/-10MPH the speed i'm doing.

My question is; is it just a problem with the cable and coincidence that this happened at at exactly 200K or is it a problem with the odometer not going above 200K???

Thanks

Hi Buddha.
many many years ago in the depths of time i had an original mini pick up which did exactly the same at 100,000. it turned out to be the cable that had worn then whne the clock reached the round number and it had to turn over all the cogs it locked. i solved it by replacing the cable and winding the clock on by a couple of miles. though now a days i wouldn't reccomend messing with the odometer. just try replacing the cable and see who you go.

meh, at that many miles, does it really matter if you mess with it to advance it a bit, is it even the original engine??
id try a new cable first, thats the cheaper option, failing that a new speedo.
