Ok, ive had the lot out and confused to say the least, haynes and workshop manual hav 3 centances combined on the subject.

At the dash end, the outer tube plastic securing thing is broke, leaving the cable exposed, so thats a problem. BUT, the cable moves freely back and forth in the tube, shouldent it be attached to somthing solidly in the transfer box? I dont want to pull it through to see if its snapped as ive no idea whats at the transfer box end. HELP!!!!

Richard.

pull it out and check it not busted at the g/box end.. it should slide in and not no bother.. just keep twisting it as you feed it back in. if you look at the twists on the cable you should be able to work out which way is best to twist it on re-entry

good lad,, yule probelly find the end all frayed where its bin fooked. disconect the outer at the g/box and yule have to rely on a prayer and a pair of long nose pliers to get the rest out.

its usually easiest to leave the outer in situ and just replace the inner
