After refitting my speedo cable and taking it for a drive to test it decided to snap.

There was no movement in the speedometer for a new hundred meters then it suddenly shot straight up then back down.

I'm looking for a new one but I'm a little confused at what one to buy, it comes up as 2 Piece lower, 2 Piece upper or single piece.

Also is it worth replacing the speedo drive and housing while I'm there as I'm not sure why the cable snapped, is this changeable with the box still in the vehicle.

My appologies, forgot the simple info :)

It's a 2.5na, 1986 with a 22B suffix LT77

Thanks

Chris

You had a single piece cable, you now have a two piece cable... :D

go on, spoil it for us all, give us a little hint as to the model as a minimum, age would may be too much of a give away...

leave it connected to your box
chop it about a bit so you can see the broken end stuck out the outer cable
then go for a drive to see if it spins ok
this will check your drive :bounce:

Are you certain that the cable has snapped?

Whenever I have had to remove mine from the gearbox end, to refit it I remove the speedo connection and shove the inner into the gearbox before clamping the outer in place.

That ensures that the drive is located and leaves just the right amount sticking out of the top end to go into the speedo.

Yeah, It broke just after where it goes into the transfer box.

Part number is PRC6022 and I've got the choice of Bearmach Or Allmakes, Anybody got any experience of either?

I've rule's out BritPart and Genuine is a little expensive :)
