Speedo cable drive swap - electric to cable

Have just completed a Disco 300tdi transplant into a Disco 200tdi : Engine, gearbox, axels and need to keep the original speedo cable drive. (do not want to get into changing dash components) Can I pull out the electric sender drive and replace it with the original cable drive?
Does it just pull out?

Where is the speedo sender located on the 300tdi? I fear mine may be on its last legs.

Just behind the handbrake drum .

Hi Dent: Help much appreciated, thanks for the quick response

I'd also change the plastic drive gear , It's a different colour so may have a different number of teeth, It just pulls out and has an o ring seal .
