Speed sensor A

Hadn't thought of that. My crap obd reader said it was a speed sensor so assumed its on the hub, but worth a look.
I do have my underdash off at the moment so perfect timing to look at the brake light switch, cheers
 
No clue at all. Seeing as how the only thing an OBDII reader will read on your car is engine data. Speed sensor 'A' CANNOT be anything to do with the ABS. Make sure all the ABS sensors are pushed in as far as they will go until they touch the reluctor rings. Then leave them to auto set as you drive. If you still have a fault clean all the plugs and sockets to them. See what you get then. Brake switch is also a known problem. Proper diagnostics will tell you. You can spend the rest of the year and a lot of money guessing.
 
If an obd scanner cannot read abs why is it telling me there is an abs fault? Surely it wouldnt be an option? I am confused.

Because the car isn't OBD compliant. Your scanner could be picking up a signal from the car and interpreting it as a speed sensor fault, maybe coincidence that its come up with something remotely similar !
 
You are not listening. Range Rover P38s are NOT OBDII compliant. You can read some engine data on the petrols with an OBDII reader, but that is all. All the ECUs have a different entry protocol. You CANNOT read the ABS ECU or any other ECU on the car with OBDII. If you could people would buy a thirty quid unit off eBay instead of a £300.00 to £400.00 plus unit would they not. What make of reader are you using?

Its made by snap on. I have limited knowledge and am learning.
I must have missed the bit about the car not being obd compliant ... I assumed it was as it plugged in and has Land Rover in the manufacturers.
Also must just be coincidence the abs light is on and the scanner shows abs fault so you can see why i thought it was working?

Snap-on is hardly a basic OBDII reader depending on which one you have. Do you know which sensor 'A' is because i haven't got a clue.

No, thats the mystery. It will get resolved though friday.
I just asked in case someone knew which was A. I could then possibly get the sensor sorted ahead of the MOT.
As you say though it might not be a sensor so will wait and see.
