Spare Keys

Hey everyone, when i bought my freelander it only had one key (happens alot i've heard) and I'd like to get a spare just incase. Well Land Rover quoted me £120 and I can't justify spending that much on a key. I think i'll just get a key off ebay. Is there anywhere in the Hull area that can install it into my car?

hmm, the dealer I bought my landy from said about a place that could do it, but he gave me no address. Guess I could just ring him and ask

don;t bother mate...120 will get you a new key and fob that will work rather than pi$$ing around trying to get one to work for a few weeks then parting with 120 anyway so just bite the bullet and get one, it'll cost you a whole lot more if you lose the set you've got!!!

Good luck with this one, the £120 quoted by LR will not include coding it to the car I`ll bet, expect another £60 or so, I learned the hard way, :doh: Still, better paying that than ending up totally keyless,

they come pre-coded from the factory and work without any further coding...

well the woman at landrover said 60 for the key and 60 to code it to the car. Still alot though :/ Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet like you said

i have had to order 2 set of keys/fobs from the delaers, 1st was for my p38 and 2nd for my td4 hse, both sets were precoded, i picked them up from the parts guy, walked up to the car, pressed the button and they worked

Think the keys can be pre coded by BMW in Germany, who hold the data base for all Land Rovers, and supply the keys. There is a limit to the number of keys available for each vehicle. Fobs can be coded by dealers wiff T4. Don't know if they can do keys.

You need to give reg details of the vehicle and keys are delivered pre coded,the remote fobs need to be coded into the cars computer,the independant dealer I got mine from did the coding free because I bought the key and fob from him.He even deleted the lost key and fob from the memory just in case...
