Sounds like a budgie is stuck behind the dash.

My air-con is making a noise which sounds like there is a bloody bird cheeping behind the dash and it is driving me nuts.

My car has the split climate control and the noise appears to be coming from somewhere near the glove box. It sounds like a a noisy fan and when I turn the air-con off the noise stops immediately.

I wondered whether a squirt of WD40 on the fan might stop the noise but does any one know if there is a fan and if it is (relatively) accessible or is it buried deep behind the dash?

Thanks as always for any help and advice.

As the fan and its motor are on the passenger side/ lt of the dash center then any noise from it would be on the left.
Spaying WD on the fan won't doy good as it's the bearing that's squeeking, so a splash on the bearing may help for a short while.

Better to remover the motor and fan and regrease the bearing, there's a thread some where on removing the motor after removing the glovebox to gain access to it.
This one may but there's a few out there if you search http://landroverforums.com/forum/di...r-removal-cleaning-oiling-installation-55530/

Thanks for the link. Doesn't look too difficult so will add it to my list of jobs to do, think I need to get a new plenum filter first.

Thanks again

I purchased some filter foam from a tropical fish dept at a local garden center and cut it into strips, ended up with enough to do three disco all for £3.60/:)
