Hi All

I am a South African and in the Market for a 2003 TD5 90. I have test driven a new one and this is an awesome machine. What worries me is that so many people are saying that this vehicle is going to be on the jacks more than on the road. I will be using it for on-raod and light off-road pleasure driving.

My Biggest fear is spending R235000.00 or in Pounds 25000.00 on a vehicle that is not mechanically sound. I have always been under the impression that these were tough cars, but finding it difficult to make a decision.

Any advise???? Thanks

Yer betterer oft buying a Freelander instead ;)

Tratters will take a lot of punishment but yer have to remember that punishment is also inflicted ont peeps inside it anorl. Yes they will break down but it's up to the owner to keep up with repairs. Just like any vehicle really. Few electrical items to go wrong int tratterer.

If you poke your head under the bonnet and under the car once a week to see all is well they are as good as any normal car, but treat them like a nomal car and they will let you down.
Its old tech in a crude machine that likes constant tlc.

Don't listen to @Hippo , as he's a frustrated tratterer and prefers the Gaylanders coz the doors fall off when they get wet, and they sometimes have bumwarmers under the seats, and has no room for Oinkers coz the back end is too small!
As has been said, a TD5, or any other Landy, apart from dunches and crunches, will not let you down as long ass you carry out regular checks on the basic all-round lubrication including greasing up where requiredm and your coolant levels.
Remember that dry, fine sand is extremely abrasive and without protection exposed moving parts will be rapidly ground down, irrespective of the vehicle!
When you get her, treat her better and more tender than a woman and she will never let you down!

Bear in mind hippo had just been backin up the pooter... Obviously turned it back on to find it had reverted to 2005 settings! Lol

I was looking int basement at ye ole days of lz and came across this. Yer never know. He could still be waiting a reply.
