Was off for a couple of days so decide to start looking at L322s going in with my eyes wide open(and my wallet). Anyway found a few I wanted to have a look at in the £12.000-13.000 bracket. Soo went to View one at a small family dealer in Edinburgh Black one with Grey leather interior.2004 3.0 td6 with 90,000 miles on the clock fsh and all recall work done, all the extras to looked a treat. Had a drive in it and was an amazing driver but I had my head screwed on and wanted to go look at one that was Privately for sale down near the borders. The guy was a great guy really genuine, his was a 2003 3.0 td6 with 89,000 Silver with Black leather interior which Im noticing is a bit rare. Anyway it had the lot also Fsh and all the extras. Only problem with it was that the aircon needed recharged soo I was thinking about some cash off. Soo we where out on the drive and the guy was chatting away, now not that I was ignoring the guy or anything but I was paying particular attention to the gearbox which I must admit was doing beautifully well but I really wanted to make sure it was gd just now soo it can be serviced and know that it can be improved.Soo I was almost set to buy it there and then it was all stacking up in the right direction. But whilst sat in his kitchen discussing the car and trying to broker a deal BANG! his wife walked in with the news that she cant get the car to drive. (Now I must state right now I was not thrashing the car in anyway I drove it very calm and reserved as I dont like taking advantage of others things.)Soo we went to the car and he couldnt get it to drive it was dead Engine started no problem revved up all that an engine should. GEARBOX death no sign of warning no noises at all even all changes of the box where smooth, up and down. The guy was gutted he wanted rid of it and I wanted it. He said that no blame was being laid at my door and I feel sorry for him as now he has to get it fixed to get the money he wants for it. Lucky escape anyone??

That's the one to buy when it's done as it will have a new gearbox with a warranty:D:D:D

If the car is as sorted as you say then make him an offer as it is (£2K less).

Get the car to a dealer (or good indy) get the new box in & warrentied and forget it for another 90K miles
