Decided i should get the wife and I break down cover on the two non-classics (the classics get it free with the insurance) - decided to go with green flag as the AA now work for the police and the RAC are slow. It says that the vehicle must be registered to you, which my D3 isn't - its registered to the business, so, being a good boy I rung them up.

Turns out business "fleet" polices work out loads cheaper than standard personal policies + they cover you for more :D + the wife's car can go on the fleet policy even though it's privately registered!

in the words of a casino junky... Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner :D

I'm not slow !!!! :p

The AA work for the police??

How?

Some AA people now report drivers using phones, drinking, etc. on the road to the police to then fine. I don't personally feel that this is the job of the AA.

I'm not slow !!!! :p

Sorry, no offense meant, but, Green Flag compensate you if it's over 1 hour. I've never waited less than 90 minutes for the RAC in the past. Also to get European cover included costs a fortune with the RAC.

No offense taken mate !!

I have good friends that work for AA and Green Flag so its good to get the insides of what actually goes in in comparison to my own work .

I know who I would rather be with but like you say a bad experience or two will always cloud your judgement and I cant blame you for that !!

I reckon everyone should be allowed to do that, at end of day its those irresponsible drivers that put our insurance costs up, and cause deaths, other countries have systems set up where you can send pictures of drivers on the phone, and they then get fined

For taking pictures of other drivers on their phones while driving presumably :)

But then you will cruising along at 80 when the cock shaft in front of you burys his brake pedal in the carpet because he has seen an AA van. Very unsafe practise. Couple that with ur usual audi driver and all of a sudden you have full blown smash ups on the motorway!

Didn't see the AA thread but just had a thought.

If the AA are reporting to the police, does that include vehicle defects.

If they recover you and find you have a bald tyre for example or a light out, will you end up with a fine for that.

Good question... don't know tbh.

I just feel it has all been done very hush hush.

Either they should grant the power to everyone or leave it with the police. What is "special" about the AA that the RAC or Green Flag don't have? They are a private company. Do the police pay them for their help?

The others probably refused, bet it doesn't do their membership figures any favours :eek:

Their marketing department are going to have plenty of work selling this one to potential customers.

Slightly ironic considering the AA was set up in 1905 to help motorists avoid police speed traps

haha, true... but they are now a modern company who are more interested in delivering large payments to share holders / directors than they are about offering customers any form of service. On that basis I assume there is a financial link to the helping of the police.

Dependent on where you breakdown in the country will affect a response time from any recovery agent , but good luck with Green Flag...

Most likely it will be a contractor that will turn up . They wont be interested in fixing your vehicle just loading you on their truck and towing you.

I'm sure everyone has good and bad experiences with the major road rescue brands.
