something to fix at last

not had any issues for a few months now, well nothing that wasn't my own doing but now my 2.5td oil filler cap keeps vibrating out. it has a breather pipe to the chassis which kind of helps pull it out as it is a very loose fit. i have just cable tied the breather pipe to lifting eye on the engine to help keep it in place hopefully . its not getting blown out it just kind of rolls out with the engine vibration. has anyone else experienced this? its happened a few times before its just the wife was driving it today and she got worried when smoke from oil on the engine appeared so i think i will have to get it sorted.

Well the pipe into the chassis isn't the standard way of it being. I presume it was like that when you got it?

I am guessing the seal on the oil cap is old. Time for a new one or...... a 200tdi

Yeah, my 19J did that just before it decided to really pressurise itself & blow all the engine oil out of the filler...

the pipe was already there when i got it. i will change the seal. it has only done 68000 miles so i wasnt expecting it to go just yet but a 200tdi swap is planned for next year so lets hope it holds cheers

The pipe is supposed to go to a junction before the air filter howeve because of the pressure in the head the oil messes the filter too quick. I've not long put the 200tdi in and the breather is leading to chassis still. Stops it rotting from inside out
