Hi All

A couple of questions to help me in my quest for my first Range Rover. I know that I'm probably heading into a lifetime of heartache, but it's an itch I need to scratch! ;)

I’m looking at the supercharged versions and at the moment I’m trying to decide between the 4.2 and 5.0 litre ones. I understand that there were some issues with the timing chains/guides on the 5.0 versions.

I don’t want the very early L322 with the key in the centre console, I’m going for one of the later ones (2007 onwards). The 2007-2009 ones seem a lot cheaper than the later ones (2010 onwards), but I’m trying to work out what the real differences are and whether I should be stumping up for the 2010 onwards.

So, my questions - is the rear screen/entertainment system the same on all Range Rovers from 2007 to the end of the L322 or did they change with the later facelift? Are all the rear entertainment systems TVs and DVDs or are some just DVDs? Do they all work with external iPads/games consoles etc? Are all the TVs on 2007 onwards digital and will they work with modern TV signals? I know that the electrics are much newer on the later ones, but did the screen/system actually improve too?
Also - I notice that some of these cars mention heated and cooled front and rear seats. Are the rear seats cooled on some/all/none of these?

On the 2007-2009 versions what are the trim levels and which are the highest specs?
Similarly on the 2010 onwards - are they all Autobiography spec?

Sorry for what might seem like dumb questions, but I'm trying to gauge what the specs are so I can compare like for like. I have tried to do some searches on the forum, but I don't seem to be able to find anything relating to my queries. I apologise if these things have been covered numerous times!

Thanks - and please be kind!

Roger

Errr. Dont:p

Oh dear. Are the supercharged versions really not liked or recommended?
Not at all and I'm sorry if I gave you that impression.
A complicated car, err yes, àn unbelievably addictive engine note and speed the v8 SC version errr yes... Somewhat picky errr definitely yes.
Some of us like our classic, some our 38's and some our l322's and recently the l405's are joining up as well. Each with their own pros and cons. :D;)

I have a 2008 supercharged and like it a lot. I believe the supercharged version, being top of the line, had every option/max trim level but not sure about UK versions. The whole motor/car is complex so I don't think adding a supercharger makes much difference. Yes you can use the extra 100HP when you merge onto the high speed motorway or you want to pass everyone when going up a long hill. The sound is pretty nice too. I have had mine a couple of years and only problems have been a leaking hose that needed replacing and the AC compressor both of which I did myself. Having said that I must report that the first owner had to replace the auto box after something like 10 years. That is when he decided to sell it. From my viewing of posts that does not appear to be a common problem. Personally I would not get the very next version due to the chain guide issue. The latest cars seem to be OK but too expensive. Never paid attention to the rear screens so no help there although I do not believe I can pick up TV signals, just play DVDs.
