Some great vids on You tube - may have been posted before - but hey -
Well worth a watch ! some very good info. :) Joe

Start from the above - some KV6 stuff in there as well.
Enjoy.

It is a shame the L series was killed off when BMW took over and used the td4 (which is also very capable)
But it could have been very different if Rover had got its act together. The Freelander and the Rover 75 show they had great cars, but as ever with British industry, no funding and sold off to be plagiarised by foreign Companies and then left to go tits up.
Interesting video though. I like the 3 blokes wandering around in the background. You can just imagine what they're saying, (brummie accent optional)
Hey Bill
What Bob
I don't like the look of this one
Ask George
Oi George
What Bill and Bob?
Bob doesn't like the look of this one
Well Bill and Bob, follow company procedure.
What's that George?
Shut the bonnet Bill and Bob, send it out the door, the punters will never know.
Great idea George!

Good old Rover
Mike

Lol Mike :)

I must confess -Personally I would not touch a TD4 in preference to the L series. The L series is refined enough but not overly complex, built like a brick room of excrement removal and will probably be here after WW3 :)
Not saying the TD4 isn't ok' - but just not a patch (IMHO) on the L.

Shame the G series never got off the ground due to BMW sticking their oar in :(

The engine that the L was partly derived from was the Perkins Prima (derived from the O series) - this was an absolutely superb engine and in it's marinised version powered a hell of a low of boats / yachts. During my live aboard sailing days (10 years) the Prima was the engine of choice for most live aboard cruisers.
I my Mercedes OM636 had ever given up the ghost it would have been replaced with a Prima - no question - however, the OM636 was a legend too - but I digress.
L series all the way..

Also, Bill n Bob were wondering who the bod in the suit was and scratching their heads at the magic lantern thing... If they had knuckles that reached the floor they could have worked for quickfit ..........
