solar panel charge light on, will I lose more power in dark hours than I'm putting in due to charge light on cig lighter.

Rangie Cig Lighter is disconnected from the battery unless the ignition is on. You are wasting your time.
Connect directly to the battery. No, it cannot discharge your battery through the panel (unless you blow the diodes).

I suppose it depends on whether it is night time or not.
I fitted a solar charger when I had a mini cctv camera and mini DVR running permanently to catch my scum bag neighbour keying my car. I had an extension cable fitted to the top of my battery terminals with a couple of extra nuts on the battery terminals and then run the wire through the passenger door jam. The wire had a quick connector on the opposite end to connect to the panel. When I went out I just moved the panel off the dash and disconnected the quick connector and tucked it in the glove box.

on the L322 the cigarette lighter is live when ignition off, so would the charge light at night drain the battery

thanks for the reply I understand the solar panel, it's the charge light on the cigarette charge end is light constantly, in dark hours will that light drain battery thanks

thanks guys, new battery on order, just had battery checked loads of charge going in but battery dropping, thanks

I connect my solar panel through the towing connector, if you have the 13 pin euro connector or the 7 pin axillary connector there is a fused permanent live. Easy to plug in or remove with the panel in the back window, or if in a safe place on the ground propped at a suitable angle.
