Hi,

I have a Defender 90 with an Exmoor Trim soft top.

I want to disassemble the whole thing, including metal frame.

Between the metal parts around the cab there is a black sealant for waterproofing, which I will need to replace once I put the roof back together.

Does anyone know what kind of product this is likely to be?

Thank you in advance.

Does it look like it has been appiled with a slicone gun ie what you would use on the bathroom etc?
If so a PU sealant from toolstation will do the job nicely.

If it looks like it has been squashed between the two parts it may be DumDum which you cannot get anymore, but the butyl strips are meant to be as good and easier to use.

As @lynall , good old DumDum is ideal but no longer available. You have another option that would work well - a suitable thickness closed call neoprene/EPDM foam; this would form a very good waterproof seal between inner and outer frame components. And it's reusable...
