soft or hard top

While I am looking around for a defender project vehicle I do have visions of a soft top summer vehicle and I suppose sensibly a hard top winter version. Perhaps someone could advise me whether I should look for a soft top to purchase and then hunt around for a s/h hard top or is it the other way around.

just find a good one whether it has a soft or hard top and go from there

I'd just buy the top then worry about the car afterwards
