Hello all, I thought I'd best join a forum, and find out about Landy's. Ours is a 1986 Land rover 90 Diesel which is currently getting money thrown at it to bring it up to spec. It was supposed to be just for my husband to play with but I've just found out how much fun they are! looking forward to going of road, but need a bit of training first!

Hi Swamp Bucket

Welcome to the loonyzone.

Do you pronounce that " Bouquet"?

What engine you got in your 90?
Got any pictures ?? we like picies.

Cheers

Hello neilly, thanks for the welcome, I should fit in fine then! our little money pit is a standard 2.5 diesel with loads of dents/character. I'll try and put a picture on here, don't hold your breath I

Well aint it a pretty l'il thing.

If that is 100% std, then they are becoming quite rare. Even the yanks are after them ...................:D

Cheers

Give it a good service, all fluids, unless you know it has been done. Give the chassis a good clean and a coating of your favourite anti rust treatment.

Not sure on the changing of the timing belt on an older engine, but worth doing if you have no proof of it being done.

Cheers

well we are kinda doing that only because we discovered a leak in the steering box today, so that will need sorting out but the plan is to go systematically through the 90 before buying shiny bits for it (yeah, like we are going to keep to that rule).

Steering box replacement about £400....make sure you get an Adwest box, don't bother with anything else. Go through everything, check everything, do it once and do it properly.
Thanks for the advice, will certainly look up Adwest, I think we will be in for a few car fixing weekends!

The Power steering boxes do tend to leak, seems to be a common fault . although a bad leak is something to be concerned about.
