Hey all,

Given all the woes with my diff and the failed attempt at someone overhauling it at a huge cost ive managed to source a brand new one.

Got it coming next week and im ordering some new diff bushes to put it on with, my new vcu will be pleased to see a new diff next to her )

Ive found a good thread on LR4x4 on removing the diff had a search on here and there is the odd thread with comments but no tutorials or pics on the removal of one..anyone got any pointers or pitfalls in putting my new one in? I should have all weekend to get the job done (old one out new one in)...but wouldnt mind a heads up from anyone thats done there own diff.

cheers all

from rave.....note the rotation of diff for removal

yes Landrover do issue an alignment tool but it is $500 to buy...hence I cant afford it just to re-fit my one diff )
I pressume by looking at the tol in the manual it just ligns the diff up perpendiculat to the rear subframe/drive shafts...Im pretty sure most independants wont have this tool so I should get on ok without it I hope!?

Maybe connect everything up with bolts finger tight, then with wheels off the ground, spin the propshaft and wheels a few turns to centre everything and then tighten up?
