my brother has had his discovery for about a year, and yesterday he went to check his oil, lifted the bonnet, pointed at the dusty red bottle jack thats never been moved since the wagon rolled out the factory and asked "so how does the fire extinguisher work?" bless

I fished the handle out from under the rear seats and told him you have to put the handle in and pump it.

I did admit the truth much later mind, to which he said with a shrug "well, its red. it shoud be a fire extinguisher"

this is the same brother who asked me to have a look at his first car, a clio, because "It was making a funny noise"

a cursory inspection found there was no oil in it, and most of the bolts had fallen out of the bellhousing, the engine mounts had pretty much detached themselves and so as it was was going round, the "funny noise" was the engine and gearbox bouncing off the drive shaft. He'd been driving it like this for weeks.
