Is it worth fitting a snorkels to a 2.25 petrol series 3 before going off-road? And does anyone know what's needed to do so?

Been giving this a little thought. The electrics are vunerable but at least they can be dried out easier than an engine and a tub of vasoline will help so maybe it is worth thinking about.

The oil bath filter would need the slots covering and an adaptor to take 3" pipe welding on.....either that or change the whole unit for a 200tdi filter housing or simmilar.

Next up would be sorting something for the rockerbox breather, it's not much higher than the filter intake slots and would happily suck water into the crankcase. Probably need adapting a cyclone type and running to the intake pipe would be best but not tried rigging anything up.

Someone must've done this....

surely this is only if you plan on wading or live in either somerset or tewksbury :p if you fit a snorkel I have a wing top piece you can have for postage.....I have no use for it and keep meaning to remove it from the wing anyway

On the way to me field just after new year I went through a flood that was lapping the edge of the bonnet. Had me worried tbh, standard 2 1/4 petrol with a rad muff as the only protection. Kept it as slow as possible without losing the bow wave and she didn't miss a beat......but it did make me think.....

I would be interested, in the wing top piece, I will have a an see what pipe work I have to do the plumbing

If you can find an oil bath air filter off a Nuffield / Leyland tractor, it doesn't have the slots, but has a 3" tube on top, with a removable mushroom cap. :)

found a tidy little air filter at my local scrappy!
