Having tested both on Discos and Defender I tend to like Mantec ones more
just because they are made of metal.
Mind you though Mantec has also produced a cheaper plastic one so it is the
same thing after all.
What I have to add though is that it appears that a Mantec snorkel makes 200
and 300Tdi Discovery and Defender vehicle operate much better than the
standard air filter housing breathing route through the engine bay.
It appears that fresh and cleaner air from the outside does make a
difference after all.
I seem to remember that the Mantec snorkels have a 450 CFM rating suitable
for the 3.5 and up to 3.9 V8 petrol engines and 2.5 turbodiesel engines need
less than that so there is no air restriction problem for those snorkels on
Tdi or TD5 engine applications.
Take care
Pantelis
P.S. could someone provide us with a mathematical type of calculation of CFM
requirements for diesel or petrol engines according to their capacity and
cylinders number?I would be grateful if this could be provided . TIA
