HI all i spoke to soon when i said car was running OK. up to now fitted the synergy2+ had a service cleaned the pcv fitted egr bypass, when i first start the car cold i get a bit of blue smoke this clears then when engine is warmed up i sometimes get a lot of blue smoke and sometimes i get a lot of black smoke coming out of the exhaust. I rang roveron today and explained the situation. I explained that i have ordered a set of silicone hoses and he has told me that if it is still the same when i have fitted the hoses to fit a pierburgh maf sensor. to be honest i think that i have tried fixing something that aint broke, and made it worse :(

What mileage has your car done?

The MAF will start to go off between 35,000 and 70,000 miles, the ronbox can compensate for a dodgy one, but not for a totally knackered one.

The pierburgh MAF and synergy are a cost effecctive option when you look at how mucha genuine Bosch MAF is, the pierburgh also seems to last better then the Bosch.

Don't buy a cheap MAF off eBay as it will possibly be a cheap copy and probaly wont work right :(

I can understand why you're thinking you've made things worse, but I don't agree.
Perhaps you have found things that were about to fail soon anyway.

The original rubber turbo hoses have a limited life - about the same as the original MAF.

Think positive - everything you've done, and are going to do, will be a benefit and an improvement / upgrade - not just a replacement / repair. :)

thanks for replies car has done 80000 miles I will change the hoses and if there is no difference i will fit the pierburgh and let you know how i get on thanks

I had to replace all the turbo hoses and the MAF at around 82K

Hoses were split - but didn't look like it.

MAF or course cannot be checked just by looking and I think it just gradually faded out of spec without me really noticing - until I took stock of the situation.

I just thought that the engine was getting tired as it grew older - how wrong I was - it's pulling better now than when it was new.

I'm very, very, happy with it now, and intend keeping it for as many years as possible. :D:D

fitted new intercooler hoses yesterday wasted 50 quid still loads of black smoke coming out of exhaust. going to take the synergy 2+ off completely and refit the egr valve next couple of days to see if it makes any difference i have been advised to buy a pierburgh maf.But all this advice is doing is costing more money, not paying another 68 quid out for it to still be the same
