Did mine a couple of weeks ago and the difference is amazing it can actually keep up with the traffic. I use my disco for towing quite a lot and this is where i have really noticed the difference.

Thanks for the pics and explanation.

Punch a hole in the top and lever it out or grab with pliers. Its a 1 time show, once its out theres no point putting it back.

ive just done this to my disco didn't really know how to adjust diaphragm do you just spin it once back in ?, done the cog and top torx nut, but it is slower, a lot slower now, is the torx adjustment definately clockwise not anticlockwise ? thanks

Did you put the diaphragm in the same place and you can turn the diaphragm in place to adjust it
Did you mark it before hand?

And the torx adjustment is clockwise.

The diaphragm is shaped like a cam at the bottom of it where it touches the fuel pin so if you go too far it will go past the high point and start backing it off having the opposite effect, just make sure you've not gone too far.

Read the guide http://www.landroverweb.com/Pdf-files/Tuning_Land_Rover_Tdi_engines_Rev_2.pdf

Max diaphragm adjustment from min to max is 180 degrees. Most find a clockwise adjustment of about 120 degrees about right.

If you've not marked the original position to start again then remove the diaphragm and you should be able to see a line on the cone made by the stroke limiting pin in it's original position.

When putting the diaphragm back in make sure the limiting pin is not pushed out so the cone sits on top of it

how do I do that ? I know it pulls off its just all gone to taters. the cog ive done right and also the top torx nut only turned it 1 turn though, just really dead bottom end now pulling off up until turbo kicks in at 1500rpm ish, even then it aint good slower than it was

How do you do what? Use the quote button so we know who you're replying to and try to be clear what you're asking....it saves a lot of guesswork and we've not allowed to play with the crystal ball since that unfortunate misunderstanding about Natalie Portmans dressing room.......

reset the diaphragm to original setting I couldn't understand what you meant. need be a bit clearer, I have taken the diaphragm out today and the black score mark on cone I have put back inline with the fuel pin on the right hand side inside, that's how I thought it went but now its even worse no go at all hardly lol

do I just spin the diaphragm now clockwise 90 degrees then try it ?

Is there a dimple mark on the top by the diaphragm? Every 200/300 I've seen has the dimple originally at approx 9'o'clock as you look at it leaning over the wing........they might not all but it might help confirm the score mark on the cone.

As said most people turn the diaphragm approx 120 degrees clockwise (from 9 to about 1'o'clock)

Is the rubber diaphragm still in good condition?

sorted it now set everything back to standard how it was and left it like that, runs great again, I think it could off already been done as it has tipex marks on everything bar the diaphragm. but don't know if boost has been turned up to match need a gauge. thanks all :)

still not sorted it is chucking blue/white smoke out on morning start ups still and stinks off fuel, got poor fuel economy, and if I hold revs to 2000rpm it chucks it out then when warm, not using oil but drinks fuel what could this be ??

As it has now been several years since the original post and a lot of people did this tweak when it first came out have any of you experienced problems up to this point? I'm aware that V8jon has done a good few miles? The reason I ask is this. I am looking at doing this mod and was wondering if getting the egt is worth it or not? I was not planing on going crazy..... :D .... just getting a bit more of what J Clarkson calmly describes as PPPOOOOOWWWWEEERRRR!!!!!.... Which incidentally is what I shout when I c..... Ooo look its sunny outside... Sorry... what was I saying?? Oh yeah ANY PROBLEMS SO FAR? :D
